Our kids love wildlife and animals! So when visiting Denver, CO, we drove about 30 minutes from the airport to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. We were surprised to learn it’s actually free, and there was a corresponding 11-mile Wildlife Drive podcast which guided us through and taught us about the different animals. We first stopped by the visitor center but learned it was closed on Monday and Tuesday. Maybe because the visitor center was closed though, there weren’t many people at the refuge, and we were the only car on the guided drive. The drive took about an hour, and we saw deer, bison, birds, and prairie dogs. Our kids loved spotting the animals and seeing the deer and prairie dogs so up close too!
Even though we just went to Yellowstone National Park, in some ways, they liked this drive even better since they spotted so many different animals.
We also found a pho restaurant near the airport and all really enjoyed our food. I liked how there’s real taro in the taro slushie compared to the powdered taro in their bubble teas.
